Cena di Interspecie playfully explores the relationship between the people, animals and grasses of Val Taleggio.
In partnership with NAHR and the Val Taleggio Ecomuseum, “Cena di Interspecies” was a participatory art exhibition and temporary intervention in the Ecomuseum Portale Sottochiesa. The project redefined the “ecomuseum” as a living museum, hosting interactive installations and community programs.
Weaving non-human and community voices together, our project explored the idea of “an interspecies community” and how local grasses, animals, and people impact each other inside the Taleggio Valley. We invited visitors to participate in community art exhibitions and programs that celebrated the animals, land and people unique to the region.
The intervention included “Dream to Table,” a cheese-eating meditation and interactive installation as well a large-scale mind-map drawing of Val Taleggio. Community programming was ongoing, hosting all ages art-making sessions (postcard-making, animal photo booth) and an intergenerational “cena di interspecie” luncheon with local seniors.
Cena di Interspecie participated in NAHR’s ALT Residency in July 2019.
